Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create my birth chart?

Open DharmaChart and tap "Get Started." Enter your birth date, time (optional but recommended for accuracy), and location. Your chart calculates instantly.

What if I don't know my birth time?

You can skip birth time during onboarding. DharmaChart will use a noon chart, which is accurate for Sun sign, most planetary positions, and many transits. House placements and Moon sign may be approximate.

How does astrocartography work?

Astrocartography maps your natal chart onto the globe, showing where each planet's energy is strongest. Tap the Map tab to explore your planetary lines across cities worldwide.

Is my data private?

Yes. We never sell your data. Sensitive personal content — including journal entries, card reading content, and companion message text — is encrypted at rest using Fernet encryption. Astrological calculations such as natal chart positions and transit data are stored securely but are not individually encrypted. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → scroll to the bottom → tap "Delete Account." This permanently removes all your data including journal entries, readings, and birth chart. This action cannot be undone.

What's the difference between tropical and sidereal?

Tropical (Western) zodiac is based on the seasons and equinoxes. Sidereal (Vedic) zodiac is based on the actual star constellations. You can switch between them in Settings → Zodiac System.

Why do my "best places" sometimes change?

Your natal best places (based on your birth chart) are stable and don't change. Transit-influenced suggestions may shift as planetary transits activate different lines on your map.

How do I report a bug?

Shake your device to open the feedback form, or go to Settings → Send Feedback. Include a description of what happened and we'll investigate.

Is DharmaChart a replacement for therapy?

No. DharmaChart is a self-reflection and awareness tool, not a mental health service. If you're in crisis, please contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) or your local emergency services.
